Model 02 · Compact cassette

Tiger awning

The Tiger exists for one problem: a wide opening with nowhere to put a big cassette. It carries the widest single span in our range at 7 metres, in a housing slim enough to tuck under the soffit of a flat roof extension.

The arms are the heavy pattern rather than the light ones, so the fabric stays taut across the full width instead of sagging in the middle on a warm day.

Best suited to

Is this the right one?

  • Full width extensions — one unit across the whole rear elevation, with no centre bracket interrupting the line.
  • Tight soffit gaps — the compact housing fits where a full cassette will not, including under shallow roof overhangs.
  • Modern rear returns — a square, minimal housing that reads as part of the building rather than an addition.
  • Outdoor residential and commercial spaces — best for balconies, terraces and catering.
  • Serious sun — wide cover on a south or west facing garden where shade is the whole point.

Worth knowing before you order

  • Compact is not closed — the housing shelters the fabric but does not seal it the way the Opal cassette does. In an exposed spot, the Opal is the better long term bet.
  • Projection stops at 4.0m — if you need to cover a deep terrace rather than a wide one, look at the Opal Design.
  • Motorised only — at these widths a crank handle is not a sensible way to operate the awning.

One span, no join

Covering a 6 or 7 metre opening with two smaller awnings means two motors, two housings and a visible gap where they meet. A single Tiger avoids all of that.

It also means one handset and one wind sensor governing the whole run, so the awning behaves as one thing.

Fixings checked first

A wide awning puts real load into the wall. Our measurer checks the substrate, the lintel and the soffit build up before we confirm the span, and specifies brackets to match.

Where the masonry will not take it, we fit through to the structure behind rather than reducing the awning to suit.

Specification

What you get with the Tiger

7 metres in one unit

The widest single span we fit. Coupled installations are possible beyond that, but one unit always looks better and there is less to go wrong.

Heavy pattern arms

Thicker arm sections and a reinforced front bar keep tension across a wide span, so the fabric does not pool after rain.

Slim housing

Around a third shallower than a full cassette, which is what lets it sit under a soffit or below a first floor window.

Intelligent wind sensor

Available across the range. The sensor reads the gusts and retracts the awning automatically, so it is never left out in weather it should not be in, whether you are home or not. Beaufort 5 wind classification — ensuring performance in windy conditions up to 38km/h.

Powder coated aluminium

Frame, arms and housing are coated aluminium, specified to stand outside in London year round without rusting or needing repainting.

Fitted by our own team

We survey, fit, wire the motor and set the pitch, then test it with you before we leave. Most installations are completed in a day.

The Tiger against the rest of the range

Figures are the maximum we would normally fit in a single unit. Wider or deeper installations are possible by coupling two awnings together, which we will talk through at survey.
